As pump specialists we also offer 'the complete package' including filtration equipment. Applied Pumps is an official stocking distributor of Airpel equipment and also offer coalescing and other related products.

Airpel Single Filters have for many years provided a cost effective method of protecting pipeline equipment, cleaning liquids or salvaging valuable solids.
The filter is of cast construction and incorporates a high quality stainless steel cylindrical basket.
The filter is for use in liquid handling installations where the flow can be shut off for short periods to allow the basket to be cleaned.

Airpel Dual Filters have been used on important fluid handling applications throughout the world for many years.
For applications where the requirement is for continous flow with minimum loss of pressure, the Airpel range provides quality of design and performance.
The filter is of cast construction and incorporates two chambers each containing a high quality stainless steel basket. Flow is diverted from one basket to the other without being interrupted by simply turning the handle which rotates dual cylindrical cocks.

Airpel self-cleaning filters have been designed specifically to provide efficient filtration of virtually all liquids, including those of high viscosity, whilst minimizing both disruption of flow and liquid loss during the element cleaning process. There is no operator contact with the process fluid.
The high quality stainless steel wedge wire (or perforated) element is highly effective in removing contaminant particles as small as 25 microns.
Cleaning is carried out by rotating the element against fixed scraper blades which remove debris from the surface of the element. This in turn is drained from the base of the filter.
The filter is available for either manual or fully automatic (electric or pneumatic) operation. The range of optional control devices make it particularly suitable for continuous processes and for processes with high contamination levels.

Airpel backwash strainers are used for the continuous filtration of suspended solids from low viscosity liquids (normally water). Applications are normally in industrial plants using river, lake, well or sea water for descaling, bearing lubrication, spraying, quenching and similar duties. Applied Pumps offers two alternative designs of backwash strainer. The model A features a compact but uniquely rugged construction that incorporates a shearing action to break up debris and options that allow the strainer to be fitted on both the suction and discharge side of the pump. This model can be used for removal of fibers. Our model AFW is a more conventional cost effective backwash strainer that is used for similar but generally less demanding duties. Backwash strainers can be offered in cast iron, aluminum bronze and stainless steel in sizes up to 1220mm (48") pipe size.

Applied Pumps Y-type strainers are the economic way of protecting pipeline equipment from harmful debris. These strainers have been designed using the latest computer technology to give optimum dynamic performance combined with enhanced reliability and ease of maintenance. The element can be cleaned without stopping the flow or dismantling the strainer by means of an optional manual purge valve fitted onto the cover. This valve will allow debris to be quickly and efficiently removed from the element to maintain optimum performance.

Equipment requiring protection will have permanent strainers fitted in the piping system and the range illustrated in this catalogue will meet these needs. However, temporary strainers are necessary when commissioning plant after construction or during maintenance to remove flow debris. This is generally of a coarse nature and can cause considerable damage to equipment and pipelines. Our standard range is illustrated. Two basic constructions exist; one being perforated plate and the other supported woven wire mesh. Strainer top rings are suitable for standard flange faces and have integral identification tags. Separate spacer rings for insertion after removal of temporary strainers are available (if required). Standard strainer top rings are as illustrated and will fit most flanges. Other top rings available on request.
Applied Pumps have the expertise to offer a wide variety of fabricated filtration products. These include the following products but designs to customers' requirement are of course available:
Applied Pumpsoffers a comprehensive range of cartridge and bag filters to provide solutions on finer filtration duties on virtually all liquid duties. Often a bag filter or a cartridge filter can be protected by a self-cleaning filter extending the life of the often disposable bag or cartridge so reducing cost and system down time.

Applied Pumps is in the position to offer special designs to meet industry requirements and have the expertise and products to develop systems to meet specific customer applications. We also offer installation, service and repair!
